The single largest cost line for most local taxi fleets is not fuel, insurance, or vehicle finance. It is the platform commission paid on every fare. On the major rideshare networks, that commission sits between 15% and 30%.
VAMOS combines a monthly subscription per business and registered taxi with a transparent commission added to the rider trip total. The commission is not deducted from the driver's fare.
The commission model
Under a commission model, a driver completing 25 rides a day at an average $18 fare generates $450 in gross revenue. A 25% rideshare cut removes $112.50. Over 300 working days, one driver loses $33,750 a year to the platform.
Multiply by a 40-taxi fleet and $1.35 million a year leaves your local market to global shareholders, before you have paid for fuel, insurance, or driver wages.
The flat-fee model
VAMOS charges a monthly platform fee per business plus a monthly fee per registered taxi. VAMOS publishes a rider-paid commission of 15% on Lite, 12% on Plus and 10% on Pro. It is separate from payment processing and is not deducted from the driver's fare.
For a 40-taxi fleet on Plus, the operator subscription is $449 + (40 × $39) = $2,009 per month. Model rider commission and processing separately using actual booking volume and fares.
Worked subscription examples
At 10 registered taxis, the Lite subscription is $249 + (10 × $49) = $739 per month.
At 40 registered taxis, the Plus subscription is $449 + (40 × $39) = $2,009 per month.
At 100 registered taxis, the Pro subscription is $699 + (100 × $25) = $3,199 per month.
These figures exclude rider commission, processing, taxes and optional third-party services. Use your own bookings and fares.
Hidden costs to check before switching
Setup fees. Legacy dispatch vendors often charge $5,000 to $25,000 up front. VAMOS setup is $0.
Per-ride surcharges. Some 'flat fee' vendors bolt on booking fees, SMS fees, or map-tile charges. Always ask for a fully-loaded quote.
Payment processing. If your vendor forces you onto their own PSP, compare their rate against Stripe direct.
